PRESIDENT VISITS BRUSSELS FEB. 5 TO SHOW NATO, EU COMMITMENT

President Georgi Parvanov’s visits in Brussels and Strasbourg on February 5-7 aims to confirm continuity in Bulgaria’s strategic priorities, the President’s press secretariat announced. This is going to be Parvanov's first visit abroad as head of state and comes at the beginning of a very important year for Bulgaria. In regard of its NATO and EU entry. The President will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Passy, Defence Minister Nikolay Svinarov, Chief of General Staff General Miho Mihov, and MPs of all factions in Parliament. The programme for the visit includes meetings with top officials of the EU and NATO, with the newly elected president of the European Parliament and deputies of all groups in the European Parliament. Parvanov will also meet with the prime minister of Belgium, the chairman of the Chamber of Deputies of the Belgian parliament and with businessmen. A meeting with King Albert II of Belgium has also been scheduled.
