An unseen number of Bulgarians suffer from allergies this year, media revealed.

The record amount of pollen in the atmosphere has brought about a boom in allergies even among people who normally don't sneeze too much when flowers start blooming.

The long cold winter, the sudden warming and the high number of blooming flowers and trees are the main causes of the allergies outburst, Ralf Mosges from the University of Koeln said for the Bulgarian National Television.

A third of the students in Bulgaria suffer allergies this season, but what is worse many older people, who had never been allergic, have also developed an intolerance to pollen.
