Greek police have arrested several Bulgarians who dealt with baby trafficking, media reported.
Three Bulgarian women and a Greek national were busted after having arranged 35 illegal adoptions. A mother who repented selling her baby tipped police about the gang.
About ten more Bulgarians are now wanted by the Greek police in cooperation with Bulgarian authorities. Currently a baby boy can be sold in Greece for EUR 25,000 and a girl costs a bit less EUR 20,000, newspapers claim. The parents get about EUR 3,000 to EUR 10,000 and the rest is distributed among all the people who nudged the illegal adoption papers along. These include lawyers and doctors.
