A first-of-its-kind TV channel has premiered in the US this week designed specifically for babies under the age of three.
The new, round-the-clock channel is called BabyFirstTV and it will be available as a pre-paid channel by satellite through DirecTV and later through cable TV providers as well.
However, the new channel is criticised by the American Academy of Pediatrics who say babies should be kept away from television altogether.
Critics of TV for infants are also sceptical of assertions by BabyFirstTV and other companies that their products are designed to mediate an interactive way of watching TV by babies and parents together.
