Austria's Upper Chamber nodded Thursday the EU Treaty of Accession of Bulgaria and Romania to the European Union.
After the country's Lower Chamber ratified the accord on April 26, Austria has completed the parliamentary procedure on the document's ratification. To become effective, the ratification must be signed by the Austrian President.
The motion was supported nearly unanimously with solely one vote against the ratification from an MP from the Party of Freedom.
With this move Austria became the seventeenth EU member state with completed parliamentary procedures on the accord's ratification.
Sofia hopes on the ratification in all EU25 to make the country's accession feasible.
