Top Bulgarian Magistrates on Brussels Visit

Bulgaria's top Prosecutor Boris Velchev and Supreme Cassation Court Chair Ivan Grigorov are heading for a working visit to Brussels.

They are expected to meet with the European Commission Vice President responsible for Justice, Freedom and Security, Franco Frattini during the meeting that will continue till Friday.

Grigorov and Velchev are also to debate with the European Commission Director General for Enlargement, Michael Leigh, and with the European Parliament Rapporteur for Bulgaria, Geoffrey van Orden.

The main topic of discussion is expected to be the development of the judicial system in Bulgaria since the launch of the EU talks till now. Bulgaria has been harshly criticised for its slow judicial system and impotence to cope with corruption and organized crime. These two reasons are seen as the most probable grounds for the country's eventual EU entry postponement.
