Prague Against EU Safeguard Clauses on Bulgaria
The Czech Republic is firmly against the European Union enforcement safeguard clauses after Bulgaria's entry.
In the words of Czech Republic Deputy European Affairs Minister Vladimir Muller Bulgaria should join the Union as planned January 1, 2007. Muller welcomed Bulgaria's Deputy Foreign Minister Evgeniya Koldanova, who was at an official visit to Prague May 2 to 3.
Koldanova and Muller discussed Bulgaria's preparation for the EU entry and the expected monitoring report. They also debated issues concerning the common energy policy, the further expansion and the EU future of the Balkan countries.
