Stolen Traffic Light Delays Trains in Bulgaria
Crime | May 4, 2006, Thursday // 00:00
A stolen traffic light caused a delay in the schedule of all the trains that pass through the country's Iskar station in Sofia.
An engine driver noticed Wednesday evening that the warning traffic light at the Iskar station was missing, and reported it to the authorities. Officers from the transport police found out that the robbers had crashed the railway safety system equipment.
Now that the signaling system is out, trains are signaled by phone and have to stop at the Iskar and Kazichene stations. Trains are moving at a lower speed than usual in the area and this disrupts timetables.
Authorities are now working on restoring the equipment.
