Police suspects blackmailing as the reason for the shooting of a young Bulgarian national in Rome, reports say.

The 22-year-old Bulgarian, identified as Yanko, S. , was hit by two bullets while travelling in a car together with a young woman, Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera reported.

The criminals fled the site right after the shooting.

The Bulgarian was rushed to the local hospital, but his life is in danger.
