LIBYA PROMISED FAIR AIDS TRIAL

Foreign Minister Nadezhda Mihailova expressed Bulgaria`s serious concern over the course of the AIDS trial in Tripoli at a meeting with three EU ambassadors. Minister Mihailova appealed EU to give a very clear signal about the need for an objective approach to reveal the truth. The trial in Tripoli against six Bulgarian medics charged with intentionally infecting 393 Libyan children with HIV virus will be fair and transparent and will not be politicized, Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa wrote in a letter to Bulgarian Foreign Minister. Moussa also wrote that, following the Bulgarian authorities` request he has appointed a high-ranking emissary to attend the court hearings on the case. The Bulgarian delegation to the 54th session of the World Health Organization in Geneva called for an international expert examination in the Libyan case, the Health Ministry Press Service announced. The next sitting of the Libyan National Court is scheduled for June 16.
