Belgium's House of Representatives has moved towards approval of Bulgaria's EU Accession Treaty.
The parliamentary Foreign Relations Commission has approved the accord and decided to submit it to the vote in the chamber, the foreign ministry in Sofia announced.
Belgium's Senate ratified the Accession Treaty signed by Sofia and Bucharest last year on March 30.
To become effective the ratification needs to be cleared also by the lower house of the parliament as well as well as by the three regional and the two-language community parliaments.
Bulgaria hopes to join the EU in January 2007 and one of the prerequisites is that its Accession Treaty is ratified by all EU25.
