aheadCouncil on European Integration adopted positions on 3 chapters of the EU accession negotiations – Agriculture, Free Movement of People and Social Policy and Employment, Vladimir Kissyov, Bulgaria`s Chief Negotiator with the EU and Deputy Foreign Minister, said. The position on the Agriculture chapter is based on a three-year transitional period, Ventsislav Varbanov, Bulgarian Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, commented. Bulgaria will not propose a transitional period for the chapter Free Movement of People because the legislation in that field is harmonized to a great extend with the EU legislation, Ivan Neikov, Minister of Labor and Social Policy, commented. Bulgaria proposes a nine-year transitional period for the Social Policy and Employment chapter (by 2016).
