Policemen Beaten in Bulgarian Village

Two policemen from the village of Varshets in the Northwest of Bulgaria were beaten up during an attempted arrest.

One of the policemen got a call from his brother, who had just suffered a heavy beating himself. They tried to arrest one of the assailants, who threatened them, and then three more men suddenly attacked them with baseball bats.

The four culprits were later arrested and charged with assault and hooliganism. Three of them have rap sheets for previous violations.
