AIRPLANE FLYING TO ATHENS CRASHED IN NORTHERN BULGARIA

Small airplane, carrying post and other valuable packages, crashed at around 7.30 am near the town of Gorna Oryahovitsa, Northern Bulgaria. The plane of the airline Air Scorpio flew from the town of Gorna Oryahovitsa to Athens, Greece. Immediately after taking off at 7.18 am, the plane lost contact with the Air Control Authorities, Iskra Kostova, spokesman of the Veliko Turnovo police told novinite.com. Only two people travelled on board - the pilot Petur Petrov (43) and the captain Anatoly Petrov (38). Both of them have immediately been taken to the hospital in the town of Gorna Oryahovitsa. The plane crashed two kilometers away from the Gorna Oryahovitsa airport, hitting with one of its wings a pillar on the Varna-Sofia railway line. Airport "Gorna Oryahovitsa" told novinite.com that investigation is being conducted on the case, without disclosing further details. The life of the two people on board was rescued thanks to the quick actions of the firemen and policemen from the towns of Veliko Turnovo and Gorna Oryahovitsa.
