Dutch MEP Els de Groen from the Green party called on Bulgaria to open the records of country's former special services.
Bulgaria's National Radio reported that Els de Groen has said that Bulgaria's nationalistic formation Attack (Ataka) is a product of the country's former special services.
Bulgaria needs transparency, but it the only state that decided to keep in secret the names of the former secret agents, Els de Groen commented. In her words Ataka has the potential to launch new totalitarianism in the country.
De Groen launched a sign-up against Ataka, explaining the move with a desire to support the real democratic political forces in Bulgaria.
She also expressed her outrage with the decision of the Bulgarian Supreme Administrative Court over the concession deal of Trakiya highway.
The comments of the Dutch MEP came after Bulgaria's Justice Minister Georgi Petkanov and Interior Minister Rumen Petkov presented the new Penal code, the constitutional amendments and the planned reforms in the judicial system.
She also commented that the big criminal bosses are still on large and that so far no one has been charged for the over 150 contract murders that took place in Bulgaria over the last 2 years. Petkov, in his turn said that in the last six months alone three charges have been raised and one person has been sentenced.
Fight in organized crime and border control were seriously criticized during the session of the joint parliamentary committee Bulgaria- European Union.
