BALKANPHARMA TO LOSE RUSSIAN MARKET

Balkanpharma Holding, Bulgaria`s biggest pharmaceutical manufacturer loses the right to export drugs to Russia, the Standart newspaper reads. The licensing contracts between the works in Troyan and Doupnitsa and Pharmachim Holding were canceled immediately after Balkanpharma usurped on the trademark on the territory of Russia, Ventsislav Stoev, legal adviser of the state-owned holding, explained. On May 31 the Russian Patent Office adjudged the Pharmachim trademark to the Pharmachim state-owned venture. That`s why the management of Balkanpharma is to negotiate again on a new patent contract, Stoev elaborated. Until a contract is not concluded, the producer is not entitled to export to the Russian markets. The 3 plants of Balkanpharma Holding own some 50% of the Russian market.
