Turkey's Deputy Prime Minister Mesut Yilmaz will make a two-day visit to Bulgaria to attend the 15th session meeting of the Turk-Bulgarian Economic and Technical Cooperation Joint Commission, to be held between Jan. 21 and 23, Turkish Daily News reported. According to a statement delivered by the Turkish Foreign Trade Undersecretariat, Yilmaz will chair the Turkish mission, while Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Regional Development and Public Works Minister Kostadin Paskalev will chair the Bulgarian mission. Yilmaz is also expected to meet Bulgarian President Georgi Purvanov, Prime Minister Simeon Saxe-Coburg, Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Nikolay Vassilev. The talks will focus on improvement of bilateral trade and free zones, standardization and customs as well as cooperation on energy, infrastructure, industry, transportation, telecommunication, health, Southeastern Anatolia Project (GAP), tourism and agriculture. A protocol is expected to be signed by the parties on Jan. 23. In the first nine months of 2001, Turkey's exports to Bulgaria amounted to USD 208 M, Bulgaria's exports to Turkey stood at USD 296 M.
