The acquisition of Bulgaria's largest mobile operator MobilTel EAD has puffed up fourth-quarter profit of Telekom Austria AG.

The Austrian largest phone company reported its September-December profit climbed by 66%, helped by the purchase of the Bulgarian mobile operator.

Net income rose to EUR 41.6 M from EUR 25 M a year earlier.

The Vienna-based company forecast revenue growth will slow this year, but predicted sales will climb about 5%.

Sales gained 7.9% in 2005, helped by the July purchase of MobilTel, Chief Executive Officer Heinz Sundt said.
