Palestinian gunmen in the West Bank battled Israeli troops on Sunday while thousands protested in the Gaza Strip in support of President Yasser Arafat, blockaded for weeks at his Ramallah headquarters.The unrest followed a deadly Palestinian shooting attack inside Israel and a series of Israeli retaliations, which Secretary of State Colin Powell said had set back efforts to end nearly 16 months of bloodshed.
