Fresh nuclear fuel deliveries for Bulgaria are now guaranteed until 2020, as the contract between Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant and Russian atomic corporation TVEL has been extended.

This extension was extremely important for Bulgaria, Economy and Energy Minister Rumen Ovcharov has said. It guarantees long-term safety in supplies, he added.

Kozloduy NPP's head Ivan Ivanov signed the contract Wednesday during a visit in Moscow.

For the first time ever TVEL has vowed to transport, process, and store Kozloduy's spent nuclear fuel by the end of the exploitation period of Units 5 and 6.
