GREEK PRIME MINISTER TO ATTEND PRESIDENTIAL CHANGEOVER CEREMONY

Greek Prime Minister Costas Simitis arrives in Bulgaria on January 22 on a one-day working visit at the invitation of his Bulgarian counterpart Saxe-Coburg. Simitis and Saxe-Coburg will attend the presidential changeover ceremony. President-Elect Georgi Parvanov will take over from Peter Stoyanov in the morning of January 22. Simitis is expected to meet Georgi Parvanov afterwards. The Greek Prime Minister will read a lecture on "The EU and Southeastern Europe" at the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski.” Foreign Minister Georgios Papandreou, Deputy Foreign Minister Ioannis Zaphiropoulos, government spokesman Tilemachos Hitiris,and Greek Ambassador to Sofia Michalis Christidis will participate in the Greek delegation. Simitis will be accompanied by business representatives and 35 journalists.
