A program for the recovery of the industry in 2002 and a report on Bulgaria's economic performance in 2001 were discussed at a four-hour meeting by the ministers and the floor leaders of the Simeon II National Movement and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms, Nikolay Vassilev, Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister said. The program for recovery of the industry includes 14 sections envisaging structural and legislative reforms and actions, which the Government intends to take in the first months of 2002, Vassilev explained. They are aimed to achieve sustained and high economic growth by preserving the country's macroeconomic stability. After the approval of the document, public discussion will be initiated. As until now, the basic areas of the Cabinet's efforts will be the privatization of state-owned companies, better property management, enhanced development of the financial sector and the capital markets, acceleration of the processes of liquidation and bankruptcy, and an overhaul of the judiciary, Vassilev commented.
