BULGARIA WITH YET ANOTHER VICTORY AT AUSTRALIAN OPEN

On the fifth day of the Australian Open tennis tournament in Melbourne, Bulgarian player Magdalena Maleeva, seeded 13, defeated 18-Lisa Raymond, United States, 7-5, 6-1 in women 's singles matches. It took her no more than an hour and seventeen minutes to defeat the American. This is the first time since 1994 that Maleeva qualifies for the fourth round at the Australian Open. On January 20 she will meet the American Venus Williams. Since the beginning of this year's USD 8,6 M tournament Magdalena Maleeva has not lost a single set. She defeated Kveta Hrdlickova from the Czech Republic with 6-4, 7-5 on Wednesday and qualified for the second round after defeating Marie-Gaiane Mikaelian from Switzerland with 6-3, 6-4. On the first round in women’s doubles matches on January 19 Magdalena Maleeva and Asa Svensson, Sweden, will play versus the famous Martina Hingis, Switzerland and Anna Kournikova (8), Russia.
