CABLE TELEVISION STAKE IN ADS MARKET INCREASES

The share of the cable television networks in the Bulgarian advertisement market has increased due to the attractive tariffs, local market analysts said.

The cable networks are not as popular as the two national televisions – privately owned bTV and the state-owned Bulgarian National Television (BNT). Still, the numerous soap operas that are broadcast attract a lot of viewers.

Also, cable networks have simplified management structure and a fully commercial orientation that makes them flexible to market changes.

New Television that broadcasts only in the Sofia region was the most attractive TV channel after BNT and bTV, a survey by Market test polling agency shows. Cable TV channels MSAT, Eurocom, and Diema+ have been rated the three most popular TV cable networks.

The Southeast Europe Equity Fund (SEEF), a U.S. fund managed by Soros Private Funds Management, announced it planned to invest in more cable television companies in Bulgaria as part of ongoing sector consolidation.
