“Forty Bulgarian servicemen, who will maintain a military chemical complex, will join the British contingent of peacekeeping forces in Afghanistan till mid-February, Defense Minister Nikolay Svinarov announced after the Cabinet meeting where the issue has been discussed behind closed doors. The Cabinet's decision is to be moved to Parliament. According to it the servicemen selection, organized by the Bulgarian Army General Staff, will be over till the end of the month. The Bulgarian military group will include military men on regular service, officers and sergeants. They will be paid salaries plus USD 60 a day till the end of the operations at end-May. The Bulgarian delegation at the International Conference on Reconstruction Assistance to Afghanistan, which will take place in Tokyo on January 21-22, will be led by Finance Minister Milen Velchev. Bulgaria will seek participation of Bulgarian, mainly construction companies, in projects for Afghanistan’s reconstruction.
