STATE PUBLIC INSURANCE ACT ENVISAGES CONSOLIDATED 2002 BUDGET

Parliament adopted at first reading amendments to the State Public Insurance Budget Act. Among the major changes envisaged is the consolidated budget for public insurance. Besides the currently existing three funds and the National Insurance Institute, the budget includes yet another two funds – Pensions not connected with labour activities and Unemployment Funds. The minimum and maximum levels of insurance will be fixed regardless of the minimum salary. Under the Act the lowest amount to be imposed with insurance payment for people who deposit the installments themselves is BGN 170. For agricultural workers it is BGN 85, or BGN 42 if the they are engaged only in agricultural activities. The Act sets child allowances at BGN 100. Severance payment for the unemployed ranges between BGN 70 and BGN 130.
