Bulgarian talk-show host Slavi Trifonov finally gets a chance for the Eurovision, after his song was wait-listed twice by the jury, it became clear on Thursday.
Performed in partnership with Roma singer Sofi Marinova, Trifonov's song titled "Love is Poison" climbed among the first 24 when the last song in the list backed down.
"Impossible Silence", sung by Mariana Pashalieva and young "Star Academy" winner Marin Yonchev was retracted, because of Yonchev's producer, who did not want his client's song in the race.
This left a spot open for Trifonov and Marinova, who caused a scandal in last year's Eurovision contest by claiming that the votes were rigged and boycotting the final when they came in second. When the results of this year's first round came through, Trifonov claimed that the jury had wait-listed him as a person, not the song itself.
On Tuesday one of the 24 shortlisted songs was disqualified leaving a space for the 25th song to join the competition. "Love is Poison" that had the same number of points as "Impossible Silence" was again overlooked by the jury and left out of the race.
