LIBYA ASKS SOFIA TO KEEP QUIET

Libya appealed to the authorities in Sofia not to interfere in the trial against the six Bulgarian medics charged with deliberately infecting of 393 children with the HIV virus, France Press announced. Spokesman for the Libyan Foreign Ministry Hassouna Chaouch said that Tripoli is surprised by the statement of Bulgarian PM Ivan Kostov for unfairness of the trial and it could hinder the legal procedure. PM Kostov made this statement after the medics pleaded not guilty on Saturday and said they had made their confessions under physical and psychological violence. The Libyan court scheduled the next sitting for June 16 - a day before the Bulgarian general elections. Then Bulgarian lawyers - Osman Byzanti and Vladimir Sheitanov, should be ready with their defense speeches and present the list of witnesses. They also require and international expertise.
