US Secretary of State Colin Powell has arrived in Pakistan, where he hopes to defuse tensions with India over Kashmir. Mr Powell has said he believes that "the rush towards conflict has slowed quite a bit". He said the purpose of his trip was to bring the India-Pakistan escalation to a complete halt and then to move it into reverse.
