AGREEMENT ON LIBERALIZED FISH TRADE WITH EU SIGNED

Bulgaria and the European Union agreed to liberalize fully their trade in fish and fish products, the Agriculture Ministry announced in a special statement. According to the agreement, which is part of the Bulgarian negotiations to join EU, trade in carp, trout, caviar and shrimps would be exempt from import and export duties, while trade in fish and fish products, subject to governmental and parliamentary approval, are to be gradually liberalized within two years. The agreement will be enforced in May, 2002.
