The village of Tvurditsa in the Burgas district, Southeastern Bulgaria, is still in a state of disaster because of the harsh winter conditions, said Minister without portfolio Nedjet Mollov who also chairs the standing committee for protection of the population against disasters and accidents. Last year state of disaster was declared in 22 municipalities, he said. All local governance bodies are to be instructed on how deal with floods when the thick snow starts to melt. The snow remains deepest in Southeastern Bulgaria. According to the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, fresh snowfalls are expected around January 15, 23 and 29. No amount of money has been released from the earmarked BGN 50 M in the budget of the emergency management committee. Minor roads cause the worst problems, while road maintenance companies clear first- and second-rate roads.
