STATE TELECOMMUNICATIONS BODY INFORMED ON MOBILTEL OWNERSHIP CHANGE

State Telecommunications Company (STC) announced that it has received an informing letter for change in the ownership of the biggest Bulgarian GSM operator MobilTel. On January 2, in the Trade Register of the trade and industry chamber of Rotterdam, Holland a new owner of the capital of “A.M.S Telecommunications Holding B.V” (majority MobilTel owner) was registered. The new owner is “MS Privatstiftung,” based in Viena, Austria. At its regular meeting on January 17, the State Telecommunications Company will decide whether the change in ownership, that took place without the written consent of STC, violates the licence requirements. Finance Minister Velchev announced on January 10 that the deal on the biggest GSM operator MobilTel was already “effective“ and the money for it had already been transferred. Deputy Prime Ministers Nikolay Vassilev and Lidia Shuleva had a meeting on January 9 with Josef Taus and Martin Schlaff, representatives of the new buyer of the biggest Bulgarian GSM operator Mobiltel. The two Austrian businessmen presented to Saxe-Coburg the companies that are in Mobiltel Holding GMBH that has been established in Vienna.
