Bulgarian tourists agencies must comply with the tourism conditions on a global scale and lower their prices so that they may stay competitive, Donka Sokolova, chairman of the Bulgarian Association of Tourists Agencies (BATA), said at the First International Conference on Tourism in Bulgaria “Bulgaria – Dream Area.” Bulgaria has tremendous potential for tourism development and it is up to the people to develop even further its legislation in this respect. She expressed the opinion that the taxes imposed must be in accordance with the demand. According to BATA chairman any increase in the taxes directly imposed on tourism services would only harm the tourism sector. The two-day conference opened on January 10 at Sofia Hilton Hotel.
