Parliament resumed its work on January 11, 2002. During its first session for 2002 the MPs outlined the accents in its legislation program. Among them are Bulgaria’s Eurointegration, anti-corruption measures, changes in the judicial system and key points for Bulgaria’s social-economic development. Nadezhda Mihaylova, floor leader of the United Democratic Forces on the Prime Minister to work for realizing the promises he made. Sergey Stanishev, leader of the Bulgarian Socialist Party and floor leader of Coalition for Bulgaria, pointed out that the most urgent problems the Parliament faces are connected with local governance. According to MPs of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms the Parliament should focus its work on drawing up economic laws, including tax laws plus a package of other laws aiming to achieve Bulgaria’s sustainable economic growth. The first Parliamentary session was marred by problems, caused by the new voting system. It was decided that the MPs will vote by raising hands until the old system starts operations again.
