The two Bulgarians who were arrested on January 3 in Libya for illegal production of alcohol were released on January 10 around 4 pm, an official from the Foreign Ministry told the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency. After the Bulgarian Embassy to Libya presented a letter of guarantee to the Prosecutor’s Office, the Libyan Prosecutor’s Office ruled that the Bulgarians be released on bail. Each Saturday the two Bulgarians will have to sign their names in the Prosecutor’s Office. No charges have yet been raised against the two Bulgarians yet. The investigation into the case continues. On the night of January 3, Libyan policemen entered the Bulgargeomin base near Tripoli where they found an alcohol production facility and six bottles with alcohol. Three of the employees of the Bulgarian company Bulgargeomin who were in the room where the production facility was stored were immediately detained. After being interrogated, one of the Bulgarians was released. The Libyan laws ban alcohol production and envisage harsh punishment for such production, use and distribution of alcohol.
