Undecided are some 25% of the eligible Bulgarians, which are to vote in the June 17 general elections, recent opinion polls show. Leading is the National Movement Simeon II of the ex-monarch Simeon II, National Center for Opinion Polls (NCOP) said. The movement would have received 30.8% of the votes if elections were held end of May, 2001, the pollster said. Alpha Research agency puts the supporters of Simeon II at 31%. The agency notes that the ex-monarch has lost some 3% of the votes compared to beginning of May. NCOP believes that Simeon II has lost the support of this country`s elite. According to the national polling center the incumbent center-right UDF would have availed of 19.1% and the opposition leftists Coalition for Bulgaria led by the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) of 9.6% of the votes. According to Alpha Research UDF would have gained 18% and the leftist coalition 14% of the electoral support.
