The biggest Christmas tree in Bulgaria was lit up Thursday afternoon in capital Sofia.

The lighting up ceremony launched the Christmas and New Year's celebrations in the capital. A month ahead of Christmas Eve a contests for Christmas trees decoration was organized for children from the Emilian Stanev School.

A special jury picked the children that lit up the biggest Christmas tree in Sofia, which is 20 meters high and has been decorated with 570 small lights, 50 colorful ball and many garlands.

The festivity was attended by Nikol Slavova - "Little Princess of the World 2005", Konstantina Lyubomirova -"Mini Miss Nations 2005, Antoniya Zapryanova, ranked 2nd in - "Little Princess of the World 2005" contests and Vassilena Stamova - "Mini Miss Mondial 2004."
