Chess grand Veselin Topalov and sprinting diva Ivet Lalova were named "Action Hero" for 2005, during a special ceremony in Sofia.

TV channel AXN organized the event that asked media publishers and journalists to single out one action hero of each gender, who had played the role literally or figuratively. The main requirement was for the heroes to have been the most active in their pursuits.

Recently elected Sofia mayor Boyko Borisov won the audience over and grabbed the people's prize in the competition.

A rap star, soccer player, weight-lifter, tennis ace, and a MP were also among the nominated at the second edition of the award ceremony.

Reporter Elena Ioncheva and soccer coach Hristo Stoitchkov became the action heroes in last year's edition.
