US movie company Nu Image will fork out about USD 5 M for replicating a whole New York district in Sofia's Boyana film center.
The restaurants, shops, streets and crossroads will be built in Boyana for the new motion picture "The Code."
The construction works would begin in December, Nu Image's head David Varod announced. He explained that along with the buildings that would rise in Sofia, the special effects technicians would add some skyscrapers in postproduction.
"The Code" will be shot by Hollywood movie directors the brothers Allen Hughes and Albert Hughes, who Hughes are well known for the film "From Hell" starring Johnny Depp and Heather Graham.
The movie will star Oscar winner Morgan Freeman, and the company is currently discussing a possible appearance by Depp. Martin Childs, who received Best Art Direction Oscar in 1998 for "Shakespeare in Love" will also come to Sofia.
Shooting the movie would take about half an year - from January until August.
