SECOND ENVOY TO DISCUSS POPE’S VISIT IN BULGARIA

Bishop Leonardo Sandri, Secretary of State of the Holy See, is to come on a two-day visit in Bulgaria, starting January 8. Bishop Sandri, who has Interior Minister status, will discuss in details Pope John Paul II visit in Bulgaria on May 24, 2002. He is expected to check the security measures, which are usually tightened during Pope’s visits. Sandri’s meeting with Maxim, the Patriarch of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, is scheduled for January 9, meetings with members of the Cabinet are also planned thought not yet confirmed. Preparations of Pope John Paul II visit in Bulgaria already began. The first official visit was paid in November 2001 by Bishop Renato Boccardo, who is in charge of Vatican protocol of Cardinal Sodano, Secretary of State of Holy See.
