Bulgarian National Service for Fight against Organized Crime (SFOC) has not yet been notified officially by the German Embassy in Sofia about the detention of Bulgarians charged with forging Deutsche marks, Rumen Milanov, SFOC director said. "The German authorities should have notified us about this development before issuing a statement for the media so that we can carry out checks of our own," Milanov explained. Seven Bulgarians, suspected of making counterfeit Deutsche Marks, have been arrested in the German province of Baden-Wurttemberg on New Year’s Eve, BBC reported. Six of the Bulgarians, aged between 28 and 49 years old, were reported to stay in the arrest during the investigation into the case. Printed materials and a computer with a high-quality printer - evidence of the illegal activities of the group – have been found by the police, BBC reported. The German police expects the Bulgarian-made counterfeit Deutsche Marks in circulation in Germany to reach DEM 1 M. It is practically impossible to recognize the counterfeit Deutsche Marks from the real ones, which will cause many problems, policemen said.
