Business climate expectations for the industrial sector in Bulgaria are more optimistic for May compared month-on-month, a survey of the National Statistics Institute (NSI) shows. Poll conducted among Bulgarian entrepreneurs identifies as their major problem contracted domestic demand for industrial produce. Construction sector reports highest expectations-39.6% or up by 16.9% compared to last April. April 2001 saw the highest expectations rate in this sector since 1994. Optimistic expectations are most probably based on public procurement openings rather than private clients, experts commented. In general Bulgarian companies are worried by the falling domestic demand and the rising stocks of finished produce and raw and prime materials, according to the NSI survey.
