A racket of Bulgaria's retired tennis legend Magdalena Maleeva was sold in Sofia for charity.

The precious implement, which has helped Maggie in many of her most famous victories, passed into the hands of Krassimir Gergov's wife.

Gergov is the head of the Bulgarian Golf Associaion, and a hotshot in the local advertising business.

The racket was part of a charity auction that collected funds for breast cancer fight.

Organized by the International Women's Club in Sofia, the event brought together the BTC telecom, Coca Cola, AstraZeneca, Sopharma and many more.

Bidders raised a total of 18,500 levs, or more than 9,000 euros. The main sponsor of the event - BTC - doubled the collected sum to 37,000 levs.
