MTel Overtrumps Rival's Prepaid Offer

Business | October 27, 2005, Thursday // 00:00

MTel introduces a new prepaid calls tariff Thursday, slightly lower than GloBul's recently introduced decrease.

The Prima Star package offers calls for BGN 0.33 per minute. Just two days earlier rival GloBul had boasted the lowest fee for prepaid GSM calls - BGN 0.39.

To overshadow that move, MTel almost halved their present prices.

However, GloBul's tariff is equal to all other networks, while MTel maintains preferential prices for connections inside its own.

Rivalry in GSM services has intensified in Bulgaria with the nearing launch of a third mobile operator.

Vivatel, owned by the BTC telecom, should enter the market by the end of the year.
