Plamen Petrov, Minister of Transport and Communications, issued an order officially appointing the members of the Managing Staff of the National Railway Infrastructure Company. In accordance with an order of the Cabinet of December 28 Bulgarian State Railways joint-stock company has been registered, successor of the assets and liabilities of the State Railways Company in the balance sheet of November 31, 2001, concerning the railways transportation of passengers and goods. A one-tier system of management has been fixed. Members of the Board of Directors have been appointed for a three-year period. The Bulgarian State Railways Company split into National Railway Infrastructure Company and National Railway Carriage Company was announced for the first time at the end of October. The restructuring plan is based on the EU requirements for railway carriage, railway carriage licensing and railway development strategy.
