Bulgaria's biggest fashion event this season ended with heavy partying with Roma music star Kondyo.

The singer's live performance was a surprise for guests to the Bulgarian Fashion Days Sliven 2005, an extravaganza of the latest collections by the most promising local companies.

After the show, the VIPs, journalists and models were invited to a cocktail party, where Kondyo's ethno beat hit the stage. Among the guests were Sliven mayor Yordan Lechkov and Bulgaria's deputy Parliament speaker, Kameliya Kassabova.

The party was held in the central-east town of Sliven, famous for its traditions in the textile industry. Svetlana Lechkova, the mayor's wife, was the patron of the event.

Sliven also had the honour to see the first Fashion Mercury awarding ceremony.

The statuettes for achievements in quality, enterprises, new technologies and originality of presentation in the fashion field went to five companies - Kwiat, Miro, Irida, Miroglio Bulgaria and Agresia.

The manager of the latter received the prize from Kameliya Kassabova, who told the audience that with such high-quality fashion Bulgaria would be a proud member of the European Union.

The fashion gala was organized by the Bulgarian Academy for Fashion, with the special assistance of Sliven deputy mayor Ofelia Kaneva.
