BG COMPANY GUARDING SFOR LEAVES FOR SARAJEVO ON JAN. 2

The first 19 military men of the Bulgarian company are leaving for the Bosnian capital on January 2, 2002. The Bulgarian company will be in charge of the security, defence and check-in arrangements for the SFOR Headquarters at Camp Butimir in the Sarajevo area. They will prepare the deployment of the Bulgarian contingent, which will join the operation of the NATO-led Stabilization Force (SFOR) in Bosnia and Herzegovina on a UN Security Council mandate. A total of 150 voluntary professional military men will be selected for the SFOR operation in a one-year-period in accordance with a Cabinet decision approved by Parliament on December 19, 2001.
