Libyan Ambassador to Bulgaria Farag Gibril handed the Bulgarian President Petar Stoyanov a letter from the Libyan leader Colonel Muammar Qaddafi at their meeting on December 29. The Ambassador said that the Libyan leader’s thanking letter is a message for peace. Together with Qaddafi’s personal wishes to the Bulgarian President, the letter also expresses Qaddafi’s hope for peace and good future of all people, which in his own words, “ we all dream of and strive for”. Ambassador Gibril did not hide his expectations that after the end of the trial against the Bulgarian medics the relations between Bulgaria and Libya will be developed and improved. He also said that the Libyan justice has the last word in the trial and that he hopes for just sentences, based on proofs. The six Bulgarian medics are charged with intentionally infecting 393 Libyan children with HIV virus. The Libyan People's Court scheduled the next hearing of the case on February 17, after it was postponed on December 22.
