ITALIAN COMPANY MAY COOPERATE IN GORNA ARDA PROJECT

The memorandum for cooperation with the Italian company “N L Hydro” on Gorna Arda project is expected to be signed till the end of January, 2002, Deputy Prime Minister Kostadin Paskalev, announced. Four months later a joint venture will be set up. The Bulgarian position on the project will be presented to the acting Turkish Ambassador to Bulgaria by Deputy Prime Minister Paskalev at their meeting on December 29. The preparations for the upcoming Bulgarian –Turkish meeting, when the agreement will be signed, will also be discussed. Bulgaria proposes that the building of Maritsa motorway be taken off the agreement. The recently established Energy Ministry will make an assessment of the project’s assets. The Italian Company will demand guarantees for the project’s realization.
