The football player Georgi Ivanov – Gonzo from the national team and the “Levski” team was elected football player of 2001 in Bulgaria for a second year in a row. Ivanov won with 163 points given to him by the Bulgarian sport journalists. Stiliyan Petrov from the Celtic football club and Krassimir Balukov from the Stuttgart football club were rated second and third.
